“Alam n’yo, napaka-cliche, pero sobrang totoo rin naman na I’m super happy na mapabilang sa Star Magic at sa RISE. And with this new management, sobrang nakikita ko na may future ako sa kanila,” said Karina Bautista about how she felt after signing a contract with Star Magic on June 19.
In an exclusive interview with LionhearTV on Monday, June 28, Bautista explained that Star Magic can build stars after stars. Now that she is one of their talents, the young artist knows that she is in good hands.
“Kasi I’ve been watching this management handle artist. Biruin mo naman Star Magic bata pa lang ako, alam ko na kung sinu-sino ang mga nahawakan niya. So to be part of it is a dream come true,” she justified.
Bautista can also claim the same thing with RISE Artists Studio, to which she is a part of as well.
In February 2020, RISE was launched to manage and develop up-and-coming artists, helping them star in the Network’s film and TV brands.
Although it’s relatively new as a talent management group, she shared how it managed to make her friends’ careers thrive in the industry.
“Pero, same din with RISE. Kasi noong unang taon nang RISE, I wasn’t a part of it. Pero I saw my friends excel in their careers when they were with RISE.
“So ayun, super blessed na I’m with people who love their craft and mas ihu-hone pa ako sa talent ko.”
Before signing with Star Magic, Karina already had numerous projects this year. The young talent has become part of an upcoming teleserye, Viral.
She also has Hoy Love You! another series from the Kapamilya Network.
The young artist could not help but feel overwhelmed and pressured due to the opportunities she is getting.
“Grabe hindi ko rin naman ini-expect na ganito ang mangyayari. Akala ko magda-downfall din. Pero thank God parang mas dumami pa. So in times of worries, kailangan lang talaga ng faith.
“Sometimes pressured ako pero a little bit of it can be good, pero not too much. So mine-make sure ko naman na naba-balance ko siya. Grabe, God is so good to me this year. S’yempre it is my responsibility for me to take it. Kasi minsan lang dumating ‘tong mga gantong opportunities kaya talagang give it back talaga.”
But pressure is part of any job or career, and Karina is no exception. She admitted struggling to adjust to the industry along with the constant pressures that she has to be good. Although there are hardships, the young artist knows that she has to filter it out to showcase what she can do.
“Nakakaramdam actually. S’yempre bukod dun pagod din minsan. Pero sabi nga nila, ‘no pain no gain.’ Medyo literally, emotionally, psychologically na mare-relate ko sa quote na ‘yun.
“Nagkakaroon rin naman ako ng struggles. Kasi kapag pressured ka hindi ka mukhang normal or nawawala ‘yung rawness mo. So kailangan mo talagang nasa balanse ka. Na alam mong gamitin yung pressure at alam mo rin na hindi dapat magpa-apekto at hindi ipakita sa camera.”
Despite the pressure, 2021 is a great year for her to shine as she is busy with Viral and Hoy Love You! Aside from those, she is also hosting Star Magic’s online talent search, Bida Star.
