A few months before 2021 would end, several Kapamilya stars are expected to leave ABS-CBN to transfer to other networks or pursue other paths.
Kim Atienza is the latest Kapamilya, who is confirmed to transfer from ABS-CBN to GMA network after the Kapuso network shared a blurred photo of him on their social media page on Wednesday, September 29.
Atienza, popularly known as Kuya Kim, was with ABS-CBN for over 16 years. He is famous for hosting the educational show Matanglawin and delivering weather news reports and trivia on TV Patrol.
Recently, Maja Salvador was rumored to join GMA Network’s noontime show, Eat Bulaga.
On Saturday, September 25, Eat Bulaga teased its newest segment, ‘Maximum Sayawan’. It can be noticed that the initials of the segment title are the same as Maja Salvador’s initials— M and S.
This year, after 18 years under Star Magic, Salvador left Star Magic to establish her talent agency called Crown Artist Management.
She is currently working under TV5 for the series Niña Niño. Salvador is also a judge on another TV5 show, POPinoy, a reality singing competition.
Meanwhile, King of Talk Boy Abunda and TV Patrol newscaster Noli De Castro are also expected to leave the Kapamilya network after they were rumored to run for the Senate in the next elections.
Tito Boy has denied already that he’s planning of entering politics. He also denied that he will leave ABS-CBN anytime soon.
In June 2021, Kapamilyas were shaken to hear the comedienne Pokwang’s confirmation of her transfer to GMA network. She then worked on projects such as Magpakailanman, Wish Ko Lang, and Dear Uge.
The most unbelievable network transfer was that of former Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo, who signed her contract with GMA network in July. According to reports, she will have a movie with Kapuso actor Alden Richards and an upcoming teleserye.
Then in September, Xian Lim confirmed that he’s a new Kapuso following his announcement of a project with GMA Network.
Before the year would end, how many more Kapamilya familiar names would find themselves in the arms of new companies via new networks or career paths?
