Why is Julia Barretto nervous about doing ‘Di Na Muli’?

Actress Julia Barretto on Tuesday, October 12 confessed she was nervous after making her return to doing TV series.

“I’ll be honest siguro before entering the bubble I was really nervous,” she admitted during the virtual conference for her latest teleserye Di Na Muli.

Barretto’s recent soap was in 2019 when she starred alongside ex-boyfriend Joshua Garcia in Ngayon at Kailanman.

She said that such a feeling loomed over her knowing it was her first time to enter a locked-in taping and had no idea how she would react under the new setup because of the pandemic.

“I was nervous because first of all, it was my first locked-in, first taping bubble set up kong na-experienced. I didn’t know how I was going to react to that mentally, physically, and emotionally.

“Second, it was my first project with Viva and of course, I just didn’t know what to expect.”

However, the 24-year-old actress explained she trusts the agency as well as the people she was working with.

“But I trusted them and I trusted everybody I was working with. There were a lot of people in the show that I already worked with so that made things more comfortable for me,” she pointed.

Though there were jitters, Barretto stressed how acting makes her feel “more like her.”

“But you know what, once I stepped into the set, I think I always say this pero I really feel a lot like myself when I’m acting. I think I feel more like myself and I feel like I’m more in my element when I’m already on the set,” she shared.

Missing how it felt to act and be on the set also reminded the actress that she loves her craft so much.

“So when we began, ang saya lang ng trabaho, ang saya ko lang no’n. Kasi it reminded me how much I love what I do despite everything that happened in the past two years. So it was a good reminder na mahal ko ‘tong ginagawa ko.”

Aside from doing a teleserye, she also misses doing movies since her last film was in 2020 when she starred in Block Z.

She also hinted that they will be doing a movie with one of her co-actors in Di Na Muli, Marco Gumabao.

“Of course nakaka-miss din ‘yan. Actually aalis na kami ni Marco at the end of the month. Dahil we’re gonna be shooting our very first film together.”

The actress is also swamped with projects as she revealed she will be working with filmmaker Jason Paul Laxamana whom she worked with via the 2019 film Between Maybes.

Meanwhile, her success as an actress earned her the title “Drama Princess of the Century.”

When she heard it, the actress was thankful but felt that she still has a long way to go.

“I’m flattered, I’m grateful, and I don’t know, nahihiya ako. Parang there’s still so much work I should be doing. But I’m grateful for that, thank you. Kasi parang kumbaga na-recognize din ako in some way or another,” she responded.

Di Na Muli is the story of love and moving forward in life without regrets is told through the eyes of a woman burdened with precognition of specific events in the future. Catch it every weekend, at 8 p.m. on TV5.
