During a media conference held for the Nagbabagang Luha, Kapuso breakout artist Claire Castro, on October 27 clarified that her portrayal of Cielo in the series of the same title of the 1988 Filipino romantic drama film directed by Ishmael Bernal and produced by Regal Films–was different from Alice Dixson’s.
“I feel like po ‘yung story po, very different. So, ‘yung sa amin po mas intense. And ‘yung story po, may original story po, less emphasis kay Cielo. Kaya siguro po if ever po wala pong scenes na outburst. Pero, I think po, that’s a compliment po, but at the same time po, I think Miss Alice Dixson did a good job din po.”
Castro, the daughter of former artist Diego Castro, made her mark in showbiz with her portrayal of Cielo in the recently concluded GMA Afternoon Prime Series, Nagbabagang Luha. People now consider her as one of the breakout artists in the series.
Earlier, Dixson gave her stamp of approval to Castro before the airing of their teleserye.
Castro then revealed that her managers are looking for better roles after her breakout performance in Nagbabagang Luha.
“My managers po are pushing me po for better roles din. And, I really–before that po siguro gusto ko po muna mag-workshops para mas ma-ano ko pa po ‘yung instrument ko po.”
Castro then clarified that she wants people to identify her as a breakout star rather than a sexy actress.
“Siguro po Breakout Star. Kasi kung Pantasya po ng Bayan, meaning for my looks lang po, pero kung Breakout Star, more on what I can do and how I can entertain people.”
Nagbabagang Luha starring Glaiza de Castro and Rayver Cruz, recently aired their final episode on GMA Network. Castro’s character did shine through as one of the most memorable kontrabidas of a series.
Aside from her remarkable performance, she is also one of the nominees for Breakthrough Artist of the Year in the upcoming RAWR Awards 2021.
