Wilbert Ross ‘unsuspectingly’ lands lead role in ‘Crush kong Curly’

“Kasi kung pag-uusapan is experience, as in bilang lang ang experience ko sa acting projects. So ayun, binawi ko na lang talaga. I mean kung kinulang ako sa experience, babawiin ko siya sa more on practice, more like magbasa ng script palagi. So talagang tina-try ko ang best ko na i-fill in kung ano ang wala sa akin.”

Hashtag member Wilbert Ross admitted on Wednesday, November 17, that he did not expect to be a leading man in Viva’s upcoming film, Crush kong Curly.

“Actually hindi ko po in-expect ‘tong project na ‘to, I mean yung mismong lead. Nandoon ako sa point siguro na parang nabigla ako na, ‘O, magiging lead na ako,” he said during the movie’s virtual media conference.

He then pointed that he lacked the experience to get a titular role. But Ross said he “tried his best” to fill the gap.

“Kasi kung pag-uusapan is experience, as in bilang lang ang experience ko sa acting projects. So ayun, binawi ko na lang talaga. I mean kung kinulang ako sa experience, babawiin ko siya sa more on practice, more like magbasa ng script palagi. So talagang tina-try ko ang best ko na i-fill in kung ano ang wala sa akin.”

Ross also shared he did not have enough time to prepare for his role physically.

However, Ross clarified he did find ways to be suitable for the character.

As a first-time leading man, Ross shared he frequently asked questions and guidance to execute his scenes properly.

So as much as possible po, hindi ako nagkulang sa pagtatanong at pagpa-practice ng dapat kong gawin.”

In the meantime, Ross is paired with one of Viva’s rising stars, AJ Raval. When asked how he felt when the sexy actress was her leading lady, the young actor expressed his happiness to be paired with her, given that they worked together in another Viva project.

Baka ma-awkward ako or mahiya ako. Buti na lang po si AJ.”

Crush Kong Curly is directed by GB Sampedro and will be available for streaming on Vivamax, December 17.
