Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos make an impressive debut in a TV series via the third installment under GMA network’s weekday drama anthology, Stories From the Heart. The new show first impressed with the Beauty Gonzalez and Kelvin Miranda-starrer, Loving Miss Bridgette, which was succeeded by Klea Pineda and Jak Roberto’s debut as a love team, titled Never Say Goodbye. With Love On Air, the drama series returns to romcom in full swing.
Love On Air follows DJ Jojo (Khalil Ramos), a radio DJ who’s been trying to move on from a failed relationship. His parting ways with girlfriend DJ Joan (Kate Valdez), his former radio partner, impacted his advising style on his program, which accepts callers who have love problems. He catches the attention of the quirky online seller, Wanda (Gabbi Garcia) who disapproves of his love advice. Unknowingly, DJ Jojo and Wanda, already met each other realizing it. Wanda accidentally locks lips with a certain Joseph, not realizing he is the same radio DJ she despises.
With his show’s radio rating going down, DJ Jojo is on the verge of losing his job. Their station manager, played by returning Kapuso, Sunshine Cruz, is planning to axe his show and replace it with a new one. She takes interest in Wanda, whom she discovered by watching her online selling shows. Will Wanda and Joseph’s developing friendship get shattered once they found out they detest each other? The next episodes will shed light on this question.
For their maiden pairing in a TV series, everything seems right for ‘GabLil’, Garcia and Ramos’s loveteam. Their chemistry is on point, they play interesting characters, and they take on them very effectively. They make hearts flutter in ‘kilig’, which makes this installment a total stand out.
Garcia’s quirk and energy make Wanda extra-special, while Ramos’s take on Joseph’s snobbish and arrogant demeanor makes him an interesting character.
It remains to be seen whether Love On Air will replicate the success of the past two installments, although it’s interesting to note that this early, Garcia and Ramos both seem poised to make Joseph and Rwanda worth-to-root-for characters in the coming episodes.
