The title alone of this new afternoon show should tickle the audience’s fancies, who will surely stay tuned in the show as controversies and drama unravel relentlessly. Surely there are other reasons why this Kris Bernal and Rhian Ramos-starrer deserves your time, but the five below are arguably the best.
‘Artikulo 247’ is a gripping legal drama. It’s not usual that a Filipino soap opera focuses its lens on one particular genre. Artikulo 247 definitely will still have the trappings of a traditional Filipino soap, but it’s refreshing to see an offering like this one finally delve into courtroom affairs.
The show sheds light upon a specific Revised Penal Code article. The show isn’t a plain legal drama, as it tackles a specific law under the revised penal code, which is now repealed. Artikulo 247 takes such a law with compelling interest and makes much of the narrative radiate around it. The said article can be used as a potential excuse for someone who accidentally killed or injured either of their legal partner or their other man or woman.
It marks Kris Bernal’s return to GMA Network. Bernal’s departure from the Network and its talent management arm, Artist Center (now ‘Sparkle’) quite made headlines in 2020, as she was with the network for more than a decade. After appearing on two TV5 dramas, the StarStruck winner returns to the Kapuso network via Artikulo 247, which is so far proving what her home network has been missing because of her departure; talent, artistry, and commitment, that is.
The series gathers some of GMA Network’s finest leading men in one show. Benjamin Alves, Mike Tan, and Mark Herras serve as leading men to Kris Bernal and Rhian Ramos. This is not the first time that the actors have worked with one or two of their co-actors on a show, but it’s the first they gathered together for this kind of project. Victor Silayan also took part a very special role on the show, and his death would be the one responsible to propel the show’s plot forward.
Rhian Ramos and Kris Bernal engage in an intense and intriguing rivalry. The show features the first time Bernal and Ramos are engaging in a sort of showdown as protagonist and antagonist of the show. While this is a legal and crime drama, a part of the intrigue the show will generate is expected to emanate from the seething war between the characters Ramos and Bernal play.
