On March 1, Kapuso actresses Rhian Ramos and Kris Bernal shared their thoughts on the qualities of a strong woman during the media conference for their legal drama, Artikulo 247.
For Ramos, she defined a strong woman as someone independent.
“What makes a woman strong, especially nowadays, parang tapos na ‘yung mga araw na, you would depend on someone to provide for you. And, I think women have such a big responsibility not just to themselves but also to the people around them because we’re mothers.
“Parang, it’s always dependent on us to take /care of someone else. But at the same time, we also have to be the ones to take care of ourselves.”
Bernal described a strong woman as someone authentic and comfortable with herself.
“A strong woman for me is someone who is not afraid to be herself– ‘yung open lang. And then she accepts herself kung sino talaga siya, and she shows it to everyone, and she’s confident about it, and she’s comfortable about it. Lalo na nasa mundo tayo ng social media.
“Pero hangang-hanga lang ako sa mga tao na not living a pretentious life, ‘yung mga babaeng ganon. Pero talagang accept niyo lang kung anong buhay niya and kung sino siya.”
Ramos then revealed that the most influential women in her life are her mom and Dra. Vicki Belo.
“Well syempre nandyan na ‘yung mom ko. She’s a single parent, I was not easy to take care of in my younger years, so I’m very grateful to her for being so patient and loving and providing everything I could’ve ever needed. And emotionally, she’s always been there for me until now.
“Businesswise, another person in my life–is Dra. Vicki Belo. Kasi, we’ve attended mga Bible studies together, and that’s how I got to know her through the years. We’re related, pero bihira lang kaming nagkikita sa mga family functions growing up.”
As for Bernal, her most influential women are her mom and Angelina Jolie.
“Syempre mom ko din, she’s a single parent din and napalaki niya kami ng mga kapatid ko ng maayos. She provided for us na grabe ‘yung support niya sa career ko. And hindi ko mararating ‘to kung wala siya. Siya lagi ‘yung nandyan for me. Siya superhero ko, siya lahat talaga.
“Sa ibang tao naman, ina-idolize ko din si Angelina Jolie kasi parang she’s a big actress pero kung umarte siya parang normal lang. She’s very humble. And very inspiring ‘yung ginagawa niya outside of her work.”
Ramos and Bernal star in GMA Network’s riveting legal drama, Artikulo 247, alongside other Kapuso actors Benjamin Alves, Mark Herras, Mike Tan, Victor Silayan, Carla Martinez, Denise Barbacena, Rain Matienzo, and Brent Valdez.
Directed by Jorron Lee Monroy, the griping teleserye premiered on March 7 and aired weekdays on GMA Afternoon Prime.
