On Monday, May 30, The Fake Life introduced a new love team in Shanelle Agustin and Will Ashley, leading to speculations that the latter’s previous on-screen partners might be over.
Ashley was previously paired with Sofia Pablo and Jillian Ward before moving to Agustin. They first worked together in the recently-concluded Kapuso series The World Between Us.
In the virtual media conference of The Fake Life, the young actor clarified that GMA Network has yet to inform them about their team-up.
“Right now, parang wala pa naman pong eksaktong nasasabi ang network sa amin kung ano ba ang pinaka-desisyon sa loveteam namin,” he explained. “Ngayon, nagfo-focus muna talaga kami sa kung anong binigay sa amin na couple sa show which is ito nga pong ‘The Fake Life.'”
Ashley also pointed out that he is still open to working with his previous on-screen partners if given a chance.
“But sa former love team, hindi po natin masasabi kung anong mangyayari sa kinabukasan. Pero hindi po ako nagko-close ng door kasi alam naman po ng GMA what’s best for me. Kung ano po yung ibibigay nila sa’kin, gagampanan ko po nang maayos.”
As for Agustin, he lauded her for being a team player.
“Yes po, masaya po si Shanelle kasama. Sobrang kalog po niyan. Pagdating po sa work nagtutulungan po kaming dalawa, nagsasaluhan kami. Teamwork po.”
Meanwhile, the young actress admitted that building chemistry with Ashley was a challenge, provided that the series was their first project as a loveteam. What they did to cover the gap was to get acquainted.
“Ayun, lagi kaming nag-uusap, nagkekwentuhan, para maging malapit ang loob namin sa isa’t-isa. Pagdating naman po sa set, ayun, nagiging maayos naman po. Dahil binibigay namin ang 100% namin and ‘yung effort namin sa mga roles namin,” she shared.
However, Agustin garnered some haters knowing that Ashley had been paired with Pablo and Ward. But the young actress stressed that it does not affect her knowing that it is part of her work as an artist.
“Actually, ang dami ko na rin po talagang nababasa lalo na sa comments, lalo na po ngayon na pino-promote ang loveteam namin. But hindi ko na lang po siya pinapansin. Kasi ang importante naman po, nagtatrabaho kami ng maayos. Ginagampanan po namin ang mga roles namin ng maayos. So hopefully, matanggap kami ng mga tao and ng mga supporters namin.”
Both Ashley and Agustin will be supporting Beauty Gonzalez, Ariel Rivera, and Sid Lucero in The Fake Life. The supporting cast also includes Tetchie Agbayani, Regina Reyes, Jenny Miller, Bryan Benedict, Carlos Dala, Faye Lorenzo, and Saviour Ramos.
The series, directed by Adolf Felix Jr, will premiere on GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime soon.
