‘Huwag gawing puhunan ang mga anak.’ Jaclyn Jose urges parents not to use their kids to rise from poverty

On July 5, seasoned actress Jaclyn Jose urged parents not to use their children to rise from poverty.

During the media conference for her upcoming Vivamax film Tahan, Jose cited the responsibilities of parents to their children.

It is the responsibility of the mother or the parents to take care of their children, not the other way around. Kasi, bata pa ‘yang mga ‘yan. Dapat inaaruga mo pa, inaalagaan mo pa, at tinutulungan.”

She also compared those parents who exploit their kids to get a ‘magandang buhay’ via prostitution.

“Pero, I’m sorry to say this, hindi naman sa Pilipinas din, sa buong mundo, ginagawang puhunan ang ating mga anak para sa ating magandang buhay. Pageants, kung ano-anong reality whatever, pinupush ang mga bata, younger age ‘to ha, so parang prostitution na rin ‘yun di ba?”

She then expressed her hopes that Tahan could give insight to parents about the dangers of taking advantage of their children.

So maganda ‘yung lesson ng film in regards to mother and children. Huwag gawing puhunan ang mga anak.”

Jose also admitted to missing her kids Andi Eigenmann and Gwen Garimond Ilagan Guck.

“Alam mo pag nanay ka hindi ka tumatahan you know. Kailan ko huling pinatahan ang sarili ko? You can’t stop a mother to cry.

“Longing, missing your children, missing my Andy and my son. Pag nanay ka hindi ka tatahan. You just have to control and keep loving.

Jose stars in the Vivamax psycho-thriller Tahan, wherein she portrays a killer mother. The film also stars Cloe Barreto and JC Santos.

Directed by Bobby Bonifacio and written by Quinn Carillo, Tahan premieres on July 22 via Vivamax.
