Sparkle star Kristoffer Martin reveals his hopeless romantic side through his latest single, “‘Di Ba?” under GMA Music.
The song, composed by Sir Nicholai Ramil Basilonia, is about a person in denial of his/her breakup and believing that the relationship did not end and is merely a cool-off.
Kristoffer feels overjoyed and shares the process of recording his single, “Natuwa ako habang nire-record namin siya. Iba ‘yung excitement and fulfilment. May mga option pong binigay ang GMA Music at ito po ‘yung tumatak sa’kin kasi ang ganda ng pagkakasulat, ramdam na ramdam talaga ‘yung words. Na-excite rin ako kasi gusto ko talagang kumakanta in Filipino.” He added, “First time ko rin mag-record na may ambag ako sa tugtog, gusto kong ganito ‘yung areglo at ‘yung feel ng kanta. May guitar solo akong binigay at may bridge part din. Ang sarap kantahin ng isang bagay na alam mong may ambag ka.”
For now, he’s not planning to explore other genres yet, “Sa ganitong genre na may pagka-rock at pop, parang mas nahanap ko yung comfort zone ko into singing. Somewhere in between sa mga genres na ‘yun. Mas kaya ko siyang i-deliver, mas nararamdaman ko siyang kantahin. As much as possible, gusto ko lahat ng kanta ko is in Filipino talaga. Mas gusto ko ‘yung hindi ko lang basta kinakanta, kundi nadarama ko rin ‘yung bawat words.”
Kristoffer also expresses his love for his other passions, “First love ko talaga is singing kasi galing po ako sa singing contest, mahilig po talaga akong kumanta. Tapos binuksan ni Lord ‘yung door sa acting na minahal ko rin, in the process minahal ko talaga ng sobra. ‘Yung song writing, sumusundot-sundot kapag naramdaman then isusulat. So in a way balanse po silang tatlo.” When it comes to the roles he wants to portray, “Gusto ko ‘yung mga role na na-cha-challenge ako at sinasabi kong ‘di ko kaya pero pag nagawa ko grabe ‘yung fulfilment.”
