On May 4, actor John Estrada responded to viewers who were critical of his portrayal in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
At the media conference for FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s new chapter, which LionhearTV recorded, Estrada saw the crowd reaction as proof that he was executing his job as an actor efficiently. Estrada explained, “Well, of course, dahil artista kami, if you’re called for that role and maraming nag-react na nagalit sayo, ibig sabihin effective, di ba–as an actor?”
However, he clarified that he doesn’t want to get typecast as a “Kontrabida”.
“But you’re right, ayaw ko naman ma-typecast na ganon lagi, but just because it’s Coco na bida namin…Of course, I think I have the right to choose kung sino yung pagko-kontrabidahan ko.”
He also believed in their director’s vision for his character Rigor. He said, “I believe in Coco’s vision. Hindi ko na sasabihin, kung ano pa ang magiging journey ni Rigor dito but definitely sabi na ni Coco sa akin, dito ko going saan– lahat, kontrabida ka man, bida ka, lahat ng character dito may puso at totoo ‘yun. So nag-tiwala ako kay Coco.”
He even noted that if he had the chance, he would prefer to work with Coco Martin on future projects.
As for their action series, FPJ’s ‘Batang Quiapo’ stars Coco Martin (actor-director-writer) with Supreme Actress Lovi Poe.
