On May 23, Sparks Camp creatives Direk Ted Boborol and Patrick Valencia and host Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan attested to the unpredictability of the first queer reality dating show.

At the media event for Sparks Camp, which LionhearTV covered, Boborol highlighted some of the unpredictable moments of the First Queer Reality Dating show.

“Ako on my end, nag-uusap kami sa likod kung sino ang magbibigay ng spark sa isa’t isa, tapos only to find out, hindi ‘yun ‘yung binigyan nila ng Spark. So, honestly very interesting ‘yun, saan nanggaling ‘yun, ano ‘yung naging interaction nila. Bakit ganito ‘yung pag-pili.

He also revealed that they write the script during the post-production.

“Kumbaga after the shoot, hindi kami natutulog, kasi nagbe-brain storm kami ano bang nangyari today. Ano ba ‘yung kwento today. Ganon ‘yung nangyayari.

So doon pa lang nangyayari ‘yung story editing.”

Habijan also recalled some unpredictable moments she encountered in the reality TV show.

“Ako on my end, nag-uusap kami sa likod kung sino ang magbibigay ng spark sa isa’t isa, tapos only to find out, hindi ‘yun ‘yung binigyan nila ng Spark. So, honestly very interesting ‘yun, saan nanggaling ‘yun, ano ‘yung naging interaction nila.

“Bakit ganito ‘yung pag-pili.

Valencia noted that the writing for a non-narrative show is widely different from the narrative format.

“Sobrang different po talaga siya, and sobrang challenging just because reality show siya, hindi mo alam kung anong mangyayari, so siyempre ikaw kung writer ka ng narrative, ipina-plano mo na kung anong mangyayari, dito, siyempre wala sa kamay namin, nasa kamay ng kung anong gagawin ng mga campers.”

As for Sparks Camp, the Philippines’ first queer dating reality show under Boborol’s direction begins on May 24 via Black Sheep’s YouTube Channel.
