In a recent revelation, veteran showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin claimed that James Reid’s father, Malcolm, played a pivotal role in the arrest of Jeffrey Oh, the CEO of Careless Management.
The disclosure unfolded during an episode of the YouTube channel “Showbiz Now Na,” where Fermin and co-host Romel Chika discussed the details of the incident.
According to Fermin, the arrest transpired in Poblacion, Makati, during the previous week. While the event was covered by GMA News, the final outcome is currently pending due to an ongoing inquest.
Fermin elaborated that Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) officers arrived during a meeting, requesting crucial documents from Jeffrey Oh. The documents included his Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registration.
However, it was discovered that he lacked the necessary documentation to conduct business within the Philippines legally.
Fermin proposed that financial disputes might be at the core of the clash between Malcolm and Jeffrey.
“At ang rason daw kung bakit ang tatay ni James Reid na nagdesisyon na ipahuli itong si Mr. Oh ay hindi raw naibabalik ang pera o amount na pinag-usapan bilang magka-partner (with James Reid as the President and Founder),” Fermin stated.
Jeffrey Oh’s visit to the Philippines reportedly involved assisting Liza Soberano in preparing for interviews. However, it was revealed that he lacked the proper legal authorization to conduct business in the Philippines as he is a foreign national.
Reports indicated that law enforcement officials visited Jeffrey Oh’s office in Poblacion, Makati, based on a series of complaints filed against him, including one lodged by James Reid’s father.
