On August 31, Stellar Diva Bituin Escalante highlighted her experience as one of ‘It’s Showtime’s ‘Hurados’ and their savory off-cam catering.
At a media gathering, which LionhearTV covered, Escalante excitedly detailed the good-vibes-filled work environment in ‘It’s Showtime,’ especially the food they serve their staff, hosts, and judges.
“And now, swerte ko nasa public eye, may pelikula, tapos naghu-Hurado sa Tawag ng Tanghalan na napaka-good vibes, napaka-saya kasi ‘yung packed lunch sa ‘It’s Showtime’ isa na sa mga pinaka masarap na packed lunch sa industriya. Sabihin ko lang ‘yung caterer nila napaka– that’s how you run a production, you feed your people very well. Ang saya ng ulam ko every lunchtime sa ‘It’s Showtime.'”
She also revealed behind-the-scenes bonding from the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ Hurados.
“And seeing my co-singers, co-actors halos everyday, and bonding with them, kung ano, ‘Ah yun pala kulang ko as a performer’ kapag nanonood ka ng contestant. Ang dami mong natutunan from them. So ‘yun isa pa, TNT.”
Escalante also shared how she evaluates the TNT contestants and their performances as a Hurado.
“I’m not a kontesera, I’m a quintista, background ko ‘yan bilang theater person, so when I see a contestant at masaya ako sa pagkwento niya.
“Tapos mayroon naman siyang boses and it doesn’t have to be a voice that’s parang blown away tayong lahat, kasi iilan lang naman ang ganong boses. Tsaka ang magagaling sa atin, boses ba talaga or ‘yung ability mag-kwento. So kapag narinig ko ‘yun sa isang contestant, I tend to favor them.”
She emphasized that her ‘more understanding’ approach to judging stems from her empathy for the aspiring singers who may feel nervous during their performance.
“Also as a performer, I’m not a perfect singer, I do notice I do have my flats, I have my sharps, so kung kami ngang mga professional nagkakamali, mas forgiving ako sa mga contestant, kasi pwedeng kaba ‘yun eh. And I don’t want to destroy someone’s dream, take their dream away, just because of kaba.”
Escalante recently joined the roster of Hurados on the noontime show’s singing competition ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ on July 6.
Aside from her Hurado stint, she was also part of the Cinemalaya 2023 film ‘Duyan Ng Magiting,’ which won the Best Ensemble Performance Award.
She also plans to release a Christmas song during the Ber-Months of 2023.
