The top rating Kapamilya action-drama has so far been outdone by Kapuso series, Black Rider, three times, in terms of aggregated people ratings.
FPJ’s Batang Quiapo‘s domination on the 8 PM slot remains unbroken and uninterrupted in the last four months. Nielsen Philippines data show that the Coco Martin-topbilled series has been reigning supreme on its timeslot, since the pilot episode of Maging Sino Ka Man on September 11, last year. The Barbie Forteza and David Licauco-led series ended its short run on primetime television on November 3, 2023, without a single win both in the total ratings and aggregated ratings games. Replacement series, Black Rider, debuted on November 6, and has so far not produced a single win either, in terms of linear ratings, or if we take into account only the head-to-head airing of the two rival shows.
It is worth-noting that Black Rider benefits from its late airing on GTV (9:35 PM), which if added into its regular telecast, allows the show to inch closer to FPJ’s Batang Quiapo‘s people rating. Take note that the Kapamilya action drama does not have a delayed telecast. This notably also allows Black Rider to trump FPJ’s Batang Quiapo in the aggregated ratings game (combined across all timeslots), as it already did three times. That said, it can be noted that the Ruru Madrid-led series almost only manages to outdo its rival show, on Wednesdays or Fridays, when FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, loses A2Z as one of its channels.
However, TV5 absorbs at least half of ABS-CBN Primetime drama viewers on A2Z, which allows programs such as Batang Quiapo, to get boosted ratings on TV5, alone. Such is the the case last Wednesday, January 31, when Martin’s series, logged a double-digit people rating of 11.2 on TV5, making it the highest-rated entertainment TV show, in terms of single channel ratings.
This is not the first time FPJ’s Batang Quiapo topped the single channel ratings chart, as it did several times already, all of which on days the show did not air on A2Z. It has also topped the overall ratings chart, trumping the usual leader, 24 Oras.
