In a moment of unexpected unity and joy, president and CEO of GMA Network Gilberto Duavit Jr expressed on March 20 his elation as the network embraced the arrival of ‘It’s Showtime.’
The signing, which happened at the Seda Hotel Vertis North in Quezon City, thrilled Duavit Jr. to see the two networks join forces.
“There was this feeling of a unique kind of happiness because of the sense of unity, gratitude, and happiness that we all felt when we were together,” expressed the Kapuso executive.
It’s Showtime first came to the Kapuso network as a program for its second free-to-air channel. The collaboration was historical, as both networks have been the two biggest rivals in Philippine television.
Duavit Jr. and Kapamilya exec Carlo Katigbak met in March to renegotiate the noontime show’s contract on GTV. The meeting resulted in a new contract, this time, with the show airing air on the Kapuso main channel.
“Walang nag-isip na magsasama-sama tayo na pirmahan ang kontrata for GMA. It is our pleasure, we are very proud, very happy to have It’s Showtime on GMA,” he said.
Duavit encouraged the “It’s Showtime” team to aim for improvement while delivering exceptional programming. He envisioned the show captivating a broader audience, including both Kapuso and Kapamilya viewers.
“Ipagpatuloy niyo ang magandang programa, pagandahan pa natin, at lalo pa nating palawakin ang madlang Kapuso, madlang pipol, madlang Kapamilya. Maraming salamat muli sa inyong lahat and welcome, welcome to GMA.”
It’s Showtime will be an official part of GMA Network’s noontime lineup on April 6.
