‘Wil To Win’ host Willie Revillame has voiced his hesitation about entering politics, citing a perceived lack of unity among public officials.
His remarks came during his appearance on ‘Seryosong Usapan,’ a no-holds-barred discussion hosted by Gretchen Ho alongside Ed Lingao, Patrick Paez, and Lourd De Veyra on TV5.
During the conversation, the returning TV personality was asked about his potential political ambitions, especially after recently indicating his readiness to run for senator in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
Willie revealed feeling disheartened while watching Senate and Congress hearings, where he observed what he described as discord among lawmakers.
“I’ll be honest, nanonood ako ng senate hearing… inilalagay ko ‘yong sarili ko what if nandiyan ako, anong magagawa ko, pero ‘pag nakikita kong nag-aaway at nakikita kong parang walang unity, parang naffu-frustrate ako,” shared the TV host.
He criticized the typical dynamics of political campaigns, where unity is emphasized and promises are made to voters, only to see agendas diverge once officials are in office.
“Ang sinasabi ko, ‘pag nagkakampanya, magkakasama tayong lahat, ‘pag nangangampanya puro pangako ang ginagawa natin sa tao pero kapag nakaposisyon ka na, nag-iiba na ang lahat. That is my opinion,” Willie emphasized.
He underscored that true public service extends beyond election campaigns, suggesting that serving the people requires more than political rhetoric. “Kasi ang pagserbisyo sa tao hindi naman ‘yong sa pagkampanya lang…”
Previously, Willie declined an offer from former President Rodrigo Duterte to run as a senator under the UniTeam coalition, citing his perceived lack of readiness and depth of knowledge regarding the responsibilities of a legislator.
