Turning loans into educational success with Home Credit

In Filipino families, education is considered the most valuable legacy parents can pass on to their children, providing a pathway to a brighter future. This belief drives parents to make every sacrifice and effort to ensure their young ones receive the education they deserve. However, even with unwavering determination, parents often need reliable support to help turn their children’s educational dreams into reality, especially when they’re making a living for 11 children.

Such was the case of Amada Guazon Bigueja, a 57-year-old mother of 11 children from Nabua, Camarines Sur, who found educational and livelihood assistance from the country’s leading consumer finance company, Home Credit Philippines. Through its range of products and services, Home Credit has empowered her, her family, and several others to manage their expenses when it mattered the most.

The company’s variety of products such as monthly product installment, available at low or 0% interest rates, and cash loan, offering quick access to funds ranging from PhP3,000 to PhP150,000, help parents cover crucial costs like school expenses and secure a brighter future for their children.

Unwavering commitment to children’s education

For Amada, nothing compares to the joy of seeing her children pursue their dreams. Despite financial challenges, she has remained dedicated to ensuring her children have access to education. Her dedication to their future has driven her to make countless sacrifices.

During the pandemic, Amada relied on her small fashion jewelry business, and pedicab to sell goods, which included ukay-ukay clothes, plasticware, vegetables, dried fish, and rice, around her neighborhood. This tireless effort, remembered by many in her community, not only kept food on the table but also allowed her to continue supporting her children’s schooling.

Although Amada’s husband works as a farmer on loaned land, where they earn 10 percent of the profit, the growing daily expenses and rising costs of tuition and school supplies became increasingly difficult to manage, considering that several of their children were enrolled in school at the same time. During these difficult times, she turned to Home Credit for support.

Unlocking educational dreams through loans

Amada first discovered Home Credit in 2020 when she needed to buy a new phone for her daughter, who was then an accountancy student and needed it for online classes. This marked the beginning of Amada’s journey with Home Credit, which has since played a vital role in supporting her children’s education.

A few months after getting a product loan, Amada received a call from Home Credit offering her a cash loan. Seizing the opportunity, she applied and was approved for a PhP95,000 loan within minutes. The loan helped her accountancy daughter graduate and enabled her other four children to continue their studies—two in college and two in high school— all of whom attend private schools, except one.

“Dahil sa Home Credit, nakapagtapos ang isa kong anak sa kursong accountancy at nakatanggap ako ng suporta para sa pag-aaral ng iba kong mga anak. Ngayong school year, magtatapos naman ang isa kong anak sa kursong criminology. Malaking tulong talaga ang Home Credit sa amin, lalo na sa pag-aaral ng aking mga anak,” Amada said.

(Thanks to Home Credit, one of my children graduated with a degree in accountancy, and I received support for the education of my other children. This school year, another one of my children will graduate with a degree in criminology. Home Credit has truly been a great help to us, especially in supporting my children’s education.)

For Amada, Home Credit has been more than just a financial service. It has been a dependable partner in unlocking her children’s educational dreams—all of whom were able to finish and continue their education through the company’s help. The quick and seamless access to cash and even product loans allowed her to support her children without compromising their educational opportunities.

“At Home Credit Philippines, our goal has always been to empower every Filipino family by offering a variety of products and services that support their everyday needs and help them achieve their dreams.

“We are thrilled that our product installment and cash loan offerings have made a significant impact on parents like Amada, enabling their children to receive the best education. We firmly believe that education is one of the most valuable gifts we can provide to the next generation for a brighter future,” Sheila Paul, Chief Marketing Officer of Home Credit Philippines, conveyed.

Dreams within reach

Through Amada’s perseverance and the support of Home Credit, she has gradually turned her dreams for her children into reality. Today, she proudly has three children with their businesses, four who have graduated with degrees, and four more who are still studying. Amada is determined to provide her children with what she values most: a good education.

“Ang kaya kong ipamana sa aking mga anak ay edukasyon. Kaya naman patuloy akong magpupursige kasi pangarap ko sa kanila ang makapagtapos ng pag-aaral at maging successful sa buhay,” Amada remarked.

(What I can pass on to my children is education. That’s why I continue to strive because my dream for them is to finish their studies and be successful in life.)

As Amada looks toward the future, she continues to trust Home Credit to provide the support her family needs. Whether it is for tuition fees or other school-related expenses, she knows that Home Credit will be there to help her realize her dreams for her children.

In recognition of Amada’s enduring trust in Home Credit, the company recently awarded her PhP50,000. This gesture not only acknowledges her loyalty but also provides valuable support for her children’s educational expenses.
