Maiqui Pineda, wife of television host Robi Domingo, has spoken out against false rumors circulating on social media, dismissing claims that she has a terminal illness.
The misinformation surfaced through a Facebook post by “Pinoy Spotlight,” which alleged that Pineda’s life had a “deadline,” with the headline claiming, “Robi Domingo Nagsalita Na! Inaming may taning na ang buhay ng asawa!.”
The baseless post, accompanied by the caption, “Sobrang sakit! Ilang buwan ko na lang siya makakasama,” rapidly spread online, prompting Pineda to respond.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Pineda clarified that there is no truth to the claims and assured her followers of her health. She also noted that her husband, Domingo, never made such statements.
“I don’t use Facebook so I don’t see posts like these but thanks to people for sharing to me,” she posted. “Probably why people would ask me if I’m OK.”
Expressing concern over the spread of misinformation, Pineda asked her followers to help report the post for “false information on health.” She added that her Instagram followers, with whom she has built a close connection, are familiar with her situation.
In August 2023, Pineda publicly shared her diagnosis of dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease that leads to muscle weakness, inflammation, and skin rashes.
Despite her health challenges, she and Domingo proceeded with their wedding in January 2024.
