Aiai delas Alas calls marriage to Gerald Sibayan a “wrong decision”

Veteran comedienne Aiai delas Alas got emotional in a recent interview with BB Gandanghari as she opened up about her failed marriage with estranged husband Gerald Sibayan—calling it a “wrong decision.”

Breaking her silence on their relationship, Aiai admitted that despite her intentions to prove that age doesn’t matter in love, she eventually realized that age differences can have an impact.

“Wrong decision talaga from the very beginning,” she admitted. “Kumbaga, una, pinanindigan ko na lang. Parang gusto kong ipakita sa buong mundo na age doesn’t matter—pero it matters.”

Aiai, 60, said that she now prefers partners who are either older or close to her age. But above all, she emphasized that her top priority now is self-love.

“Hindi ako tanga (sa pag-ibig). Nagkataon lang na napupunta ako sa hindi tamang tao para sa ‘kin,” she explained. “Kasi kung tanga ako, hindi kami aabot [ni Gerald] ng 10 years.”

She also shared her belief that their marriage had an “expiration date,” hinting that there were factors and possibly hidden intentions that contributed to the eventual fallout.

“May ibang agenda siya, o baka may iba siyang hinahanap sa akin,” she said.

Despite the heartache, Aiai said she’s currently in the recovery stage but confident that she will be okay in time.

“Tapos na ako sa grieving. I think acceptance na lang,” she shared. “In God’s time and in God’s grace, I’ll be okay.”

The revelation comes months after Aiai confirmed her separation from Gerald in late 2024. According to her, Gerald broke up with her via Viber, citing his desire to have children and no longer being happy in their marriage.
