Kapamilya actor and singer Sam Milby became emotional during an exclusive interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on March 3, as he spoke about his painful breakup with Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

This marked Milby’s first appearance on GMA Network, and during the discussion, he struggled to hold back tears while discussing their separation after years of being together and an engagement.
When asked about how he manages breakups, Sam admitted that it has never been easy for him.
“Not well. I think every breakup is a different situation. Kung ikaw ang nasaktan o kung ikaw ‘yung dahilan kung bakit yung breakup, so it depends on the situation. But I think any breakup is not easy,” he shared.
Abunda then described Sam and Catriona’s relationship as a “fairy tale” and acknowledged the public’s surprise when news broke that the two had called off their engagement.
“One morning, we woke up to find out that the engagement had been broken. We were distraught. How were you, and how did you handle the breakup?” the veteran host asked.
Milby responded candidly, “Honestly, not well. And like I said, any breakup is not easy. It’s hard to talk about our breakup. It’s something I didn’t wanna talk about.”

He also referenced a previous interview with MJ Felipe, saying he only spoke out to clear up rumors of a third party, specifically allegations involving singer Moira Dela Torre.
Sam firmly denied any involvement of Moira in his breakup with Catriona.
“With social media now, people want to just connect so many things and believe so many things na walang katotohanan,” he explained.
“I felt the need to clear yung issue na there was no third party, and yung sinasabi na si Moira yung third party.”
He reiterated that he and Catriona had always been private about their relationship, adding, “As respect sa kanya, I still don’t feel comfortable talking about our relationship.”
As the interview progressed, Milby became visibly emotional, struggling to articulate his feelings.
“It’s been rough. No breakup is easy. It’s really been rough. It wasn’t only mag-boyfriend-girlfriend kami, we were engaged. And to have that not push through, it’s been really rough, honestly,” he said, his voice breaking as he paused to compose himself.
At one point, he wiped away tears and admitted, “I didn’t expect to be emotional right now, I’m sorry… It’s hard sometimes to talk about it.”
Despite his heartbreak, he refused to divulge further details, stating, “The more you talk about any issue, mas maraming bala yung mga tao to use against you, and I don’t wanna give… There’s no point. I have so much love and respect on both sides, I wanna believe, but it hasn’t been easy at all.”
Breakup rumors began circulating in early 2024 when netizens noticed that Catriona had deleted all their photos together from Instagram. However, Sam had kept his posts with her intact.
In February 2025, Sam confirmed their split in an interview with ABS-CBN News, clarifying once again that no third party was involved and urging the public not to believe baseless rumors.
“There was never a third party sa amin ni Cat. That needs to be cleared. There is no truth to it at all. It makes me sad. May babala ako sa mga tao: please mag-ingat kayo sa mga nakikita ‘nyo sa online. If there’s no evidence, ‘wag niyong paniwalaan ‘yung nakikita ‘nyo because in this incident, there’s absolutely no truth to it at all,” he said.
Additionally, Sam confirmed that he and Moira are no longer friends, though he refrained from discussing the reason, calling it “very sensitive.”
As of now, Catriona Gray has not released any statement regarding the breakup.
