Kapuso actor Yasser Marta recently shared a painful experience from his early days in the entertainment industry, revealing that he was once shouted at, insulted, and removed from a project without pay.

During his guest appearance on GTV’s cooking talk show ‘Lutong Bahay’ on February 26, Yasser recounted the incident, which happened when he was just 18 years old and hopeful about landing his first major role.
According to Yasser, he was cast as the best friend of the lead character in a project and believed it would be his big break. However, upon arriving on set, he was met with unexpected hostility from the director.
“When I got there, I was suddenly shouted at and cursed by the director. Then, they kicked me out and never filmed my scenes,” Yasser revealed.
He further recalled the director’s harsh words: “Sino ba ‘yung lalaking ‘yan? Bakit kumukuha kayo ng walang kwentang tao?”
Despite waiting on set until 3:00 a.m., Yasser said he was never given the chance to perform and went home empty-handed and unpaid.
“Wala, umuwi na lang kami ng nanay ko na luhaan,” he added.
Despite the disrespect and disappointment, Yasser said he never held a grudge against the director and chose to remain optimistic.
“I believe our lives are already written. No matter what decisions you make, if something is meant for you, the Lord will lead you there,” he said.
Yasser began his showbiz career as a contestant on ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ ‘Spogify’ segment before landing minor roles in GMA Network shows. He later became part of GMA Network’s boyband One Up, gaining popularity along the way.
Today, Yasser is proving that determination and faith can turn setbacks into triumphs as he currently stars in GMA Network’s prime-time series ‘My Ilonggo Girl’, marking a significant milestone in his acting career.
