Veteran actor Gardo Versoza is back on primetime TV, delivering a fierce performance as the fiery Judge Benito Balmores in TV5’s hit action-drama ‘Lumuhod Ka sa Lupa’.
As the series heads into its final four explosive weeks, Gardo is savoring every moment of portraying the show’s resident antagonist.
“Sobrang nag-eenjoy ako,” Gardo shared during a recent interview. “Ramdam na ramdam ko ‘yung gigil ng audience.”
Returning to the screen following a health scare, Gardo expressed deep gratitude for the trust given to him by TV5 and Viva. In 2023, the actor underwent angioplasty after suffering a heart attack—an event that left him uncertain about his return to acting.
“Kinabahan din ako kasi hindi ko alam kung makakapag-work ulit ako agad,” he said. “Thankful ako sa Viva at TV5, kasi galing pa lang ako sa atake sa puso, pero pinagkatiwalaan nila agad ako ng role ni Judge—isang karakter na mainitin ang ulo at laging gusto ng away.”
What makes the role more fulfilling, according to Gardo, is how strongly he reacts to the character himself.
“Maraming bits and pieces about Judge Benito Balmores na kaiinisan ko talaga in real life,” he admitted.
As ‘Lumuhod Ka sa Lupa’ nears its conclusion, viewers can expect a series of intense twists and shocking revelations. Led by Kiko Estrada as Norman dela Cruz, the show has steadily gained a following thanks to its gripping narrative and powerful ensemble cast that includes Rhen Escaño, Sid Lucero, Ryza Cenon, and Althea Ruedas.
