Kapuso Action Hero Ruru Madrid was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a leg injury while taping for his ongoing GMA Network Primetime series ‘Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila.’
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Ruru recounted how the incident happened during a high-intensity action scene on set.
“Kahapon, habang nagte-taping para sa ‘Lolong,’ I was giving it my all–full speed–then suddenly, pop. Alam kong may mali. My leg gave out, and I couldn’t continue,” he shared.
Doctors confirmed that Ruru had pulled his hamstring, and he has since undergone an MRI scan to determine the severity of the injury. He’s hoping the results don’t show a Grade 3 strain, which could mean a full tear and would require weeks or even months of recovery.
“Masakit? Oo. Pero mas masakit ‘yung pakiramdam na kailangan kong huminto,” he admitted. “All I could think about was my team, the scenes we still have to finish, and how much I wanted to push through.”
Though temporarily sidelined, the actor remains positive and determined.
“Challenges like this don’t break me–they build me. This is just a pause, not the end. Every setback is a setup for a stronger comeback. I will rise from this–wiser, tougher, and more unstoppable than ever.”
Ruru also expressed gratitude to everyone who checked in on him, especially his longtime girlfriend Bianca Umali, who stayed with him at the hospital.
“[S]alamat dahil hindi mo ako iniwan sa oras na ‘to. Your presence, love, and support mean everything to me.”
Despite the delay in production, Ruru assured fans that he remains fully committed to the series and to his recovery.
“Despite everything, I will forever be grateful to God. His plans are always greater than mine, and I trust in His timing and purpose. This is just part of the journey. And trust me, I’m coming back stronger. See you soon.”
Fans of Lolong have poured out their well-wishes on social media, hoping for the actor’s speedy recovery. For now, taping has been temporarily paused, especially for physically demanding scenes.
Ruru’s message to his fans? “Maraming salamat sa inyong walang sawang suporta! Patuloy nating samahan si Lolong sa kanyang panibagong laban sa Maynila. Kayo ang inspirasyon ko. Mahal ko kayo!”
