Kapuso actress AZ Martinez finally made the difficult decision to let go of her former boyfriend, Larkin Castor.
The emotional exchange came after the housemates received letters from their loved ones, hand-delivered by house guest Donny Pangilinan. Among them was a letter and a necklace from Larkin, addressed to AZ.
Speaking with Kuya in the confession room, AZ admitted the emotional weight of responding to Larkin’s message.
“Sobrang hirap talaga ako. ‘Di ko alam anong sasabihin. ‘Di ko alam saan uumpisahan. Kasi with that letter, parang I have to make a decision already,” she said, referencing the emotions stirred by the necklace and Larkin’s continued hopes for reconciliation.
Although Larkin had said he hadn’t given up, AZ felt it was time to be honest — not only with him but with herself.
“Gusto ko po sabihin sa kanya is, pinapalaya ko na po siya, Kuya. Kung gusto niya pa rin maghintay, that’s his choice na. Pero ayoko na siyang kontrolin, ayoko na siyang habulin or guluhin pa. Kasi alam ko, mas masasaktan lang siya if I leave him hanging.”
AZ added that writing the letter gave her a sense of peace and pride, knowing she did what felt right.
Kuya offered her words of encouragement: “Ending a relationship is never easy. Ang paghilom ay isang proseso. Hindi mo kailangan madaliin… Sana kapag nagkita kayo ni Larkin sa labas, magkaroon kayo ng pagkakataon na mag-usap — ng may respeto — para magkaroon ng closure.”
AZ had previously shared with fellow housemates that she and Larkin had already broken up before she entered Bahay ni Kuya. This recent exchange, however, provided the clarity and closure needed on national television.
