Jason Dy, the soulful Cornerstone star, recently shared heartfelt anecdotes about the music legends who left him starstruck during his contract renewal with Star Music on May 15, 2025.
Reflecting on his decade-long journey in showbiz, Dy revealed the unforgettable moments when he crossed paths with some of ASAP’s finest, including Regine Velasquez, Kyla, and Martin Nievera.
Dy vividly recalled his first encounter with Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez, on the ASAP stage. “Nung first appearance niya po sa ASAP, I was there. Nag-perform po kami sa isang production number,” he shared. “Na-starstruck po talaga ako. Hindi ako makapaniwala. I’m meeting her, and naka-duet ko pa siya!” The thrill of performing alongside Velasquez, a vocal powerhouse, remains a career highlight for Dy, who has shared the ASAP stage with her multiple times.
Adding to his list, Dy gushed over R&B queen Kyla, admitting to being a lifelong fan. “Sobrang fan na fan po talaga ako niya. I love her genre, R&B,” he said. Meeting Kyla and her male counterpart,Jay-R, whom he dubbed the “King and Queen,” was a dream come true for the singer. Equally surreal was his encounter with Martin Nievera, whose classic hit “Be My Lady” Dy covered. “Noong na-meet ko siya, ‘Oh my god, sir!’ Grabe po itong opportunity. Pressure po to put out a song na signature ni Sir Martin,” he recounted.
As Dy celebrates his 10th anniversary in the industry, he’s gearing up for a milestone concert on June 27, 2025, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
