Veteran entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin had strong words for Raquel Pempengco, the mother of singer-songwriter Jake Zyrus, in the latest episode of her show ‘Cristy Ferminute’ aired Tuesday, June 24.

Fermin took aim at Raquel’s recent social media activity, particularly her revealing selfies. “Gusto niyang mapag-usapan. Aling Raquel, mabibigo ka. Kung ‘yong anak mo nga, nagmarka na… hindi na napag-uusapan, ikaw pa kaya? Aling Raquel naman, ilagay n’yo naman sa ayos ‘yang mga ginagawa n’yo,” she said.
Her co-host Romel Chika chimed in, noting, “Panay pa-cleavage talaga siya, Nay. Laban, Aling Raquel.” To which Fermin sarcastically added, “Gusto niya sigurong makipagkompetensya kay Kathryn Bernardo.”
The remarks were in reference to Raquel’s recent selfies on Facebook, one of which showed her in a pink outfit with visible cleavage, her hair down, and a caption that read:
“ … , . !”
While Chika later added that perhaps Raquel was just enjoying life and expressing herself freely, Fermin stood firm in her criticism, pointing out that such posts, in her view, only call unwanted attention and ridicule.
