There’s no tension — only teamwork — between real-life couple and co-hosts Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz, even when they’re rooting for different contestants on ‘The Clash’.
As the hit GMA Network singing competition returns for its latest season, the power duo proves that chemistry and camaraderie can shine even amid fierce competition.

This year, ‘The Clash 2025’ brings a high-stakes twist: the clash between Clashbackers — returning contestants hungry for redemption — and a fresh batch of hopefuls dubbed the New Clashers. The new season premiered last Saturday and airs every Sunday at 7:15 p.m.
Julie Anne and Rayver, who have been hosting the show since 2019, said that instead of playing favorites, they support every contender equally. “We cheer for all of them,” shared Rayver during the show’s launch. “We want everyone to feel they have a fair shot.”
Julie Anne echoed his sentiment: “This season is tougher. The talents are more diverse and technically skilled, so the contestants need to bring something unique every time they perform.”
The twist of bringing back previous contestants adds extra excitement and pressure. Among the returning Clashbackers are familiar faces like Vilmark Viray, Jennifer Maravilla, and Arabelle Dela Cruz. They’ll battle against the New Clashers, including standouts like Adelle Yu, Carlos Florez, and Venus Pelobello, for only four coveted spots in the Grand Finale.
The Clash Panel — composed of industry icons AiAi Delas Alas, Christian Bautista, and Lani Misalucha — also returns to offer their signature blend of tough love and expert insight. With director Rico Gutierrez behind the scenes, the show promises polish, drama, and standout performances every week.
While the contestants prepare for vocal battles, it’s the balance and support that Julie Anne and Rayver bring that make the show even more engaging. Off-cam, they act as silent mentors — offering pep talks, lighthearted jokes, and much-needed encouragement backstage.
“We’ve become more comfortable hosting together,” said Julie Anne. “Our real-life bond helps us communicate better, which in turn helps the contestants relax.”
Rayver added, “We want to remind them — this is a competition, yes, but it’s also a chance to grow, connect, and inspire.”
