Singer Katrina Velarde has revealed that she underwent surgery to remove a silicone nose implant after experiencing complications that surfaced years after the cosmetic procedure.
In a heartfelt video posted on her official Facebook page on June 6, Katrina explained the sudden cancellation of her commitments, including what would have been a guest appearance at the 98 Degrees concert in Manila.
“After kong mag-post about sa hindi ako makaka-attend sa 98 Degrees (concert) and I had to cancel some commitments na dapat kakantahan ko, it’s because I needed to have my nose implant removed as soon as possible, and it takes a while para mag-recover,” she shared.
According to Katrina, the complication developed four years after the implant was placed.
“So nagkaroon ako ng complications four years after malagay ‘yung silicone implant sa ilong ko,” she said, adding with honesty, “Alam niyo naman din na very open ako sa mga ginagawa ko, sa pagiging robot ko or pagiging android ko.”
Katrina, known for her vocal prowess and transparency, also disclosed that this was not her first nose implant removal. Her initial procedure involved a Gore-Tex implant, which her body rejected.
“At first, I had Gore-Tex. Ni-reject din siya ng katawan ko right ahead, and then I had it removed also. Tapos itong pangalawa, ito na ‘yung ngayon, at nagkaroon na naman ako ng complication,” she explained.
Despite missing the concert’s stage, Katrina was still able to attend the show on its second night and briefly reconnect with the members of 98 Degrees.
“They were very nice and then we talked about the collab that we did for ‘I Do Cherish You’. It was so nice. It was very quick kasi nung dumating ako medyo patapos na yung concert,” she said.
The singer also expressed gratitude to fans who reached out during her recovery.
“Thank you sa mga nag-reach out sa akin. Sa mga nag-worry, okay lang ako, mga bes,” she said reassuringly.
Katrina has long been open about her cosmetic journey. In a 2024 interview with Boy Abunda, she revealed undergoing several enhancements including chin and lip fillers, non-surgical eyelid enhancement, and rhinoplasty.
“Actually, parang important din po kasi nowadays ‘yung physical appearance and I think I’m more confident po na nagpagawa ako,” she admitted at the time.
