Anne Curtis isn’t one to let shade slide—especially when it comes to her hard-earned recognition.

The multi-hyphenate star recently found herself at the center of online chatter after winning Female TV Host of the Year at the 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards. While many fans celebrated the win, one Facebook user questioned the decision, writing, “Filipino awards are weird. The one who (was) always absent got an award…” The comment referred to Anne’s frequent absences from It’s Showtime, the noontime variety show she co-hosts.
GIGIL NILA AKO E. Hayaan nyo, makakaasa kayo wala akong hosting award next year because I was absent for half of this year acting for 2 different projects. 1 that I have yet to finish. Happy? Right @itsShowtimeNa https://t.co/QpwxtiEP5V

Anne, never one to back down from a teachable moment, clapped back with a sharp yet composed reply: “FYI, THIS WAS BASED ON LAST YEAR. When I was in my different hair girl era. Not this year.” Her response clarified that the award recognized her 2024 performance—when she was consistently present on the show—unlike this year, when she’s been busy filming the Philippine adaptation of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.
The exchange didn’t end there. On X (formerly Twitter), user Zia Jacinto posted a screenshot of Anne’s comment with the caption, “Umagang-umaga, gigil nyo si ate Anne Curtis.”
Anne quote-tweeted it with a dose of sarcasm: “GIGIL NILA AKO E. Hayaan nyo, makakaasa kayo wala akong hosting award next year because I was absent for half of this year acting for 2 different projects. 1 that I have yet to finish. Happy? ”
While some interpreted her tone as irritation, others saw it as classic Anne—witty, self-aware, and unbothered. Netizens quickly rallied behind her. “Hindi, teh. Inisin mo pa sila lalo. HAHAHAHA,” one fan tweeted.

Another joked, “Galit ka talaga? You capable of being galit?”—a nod to Anne’s famously sweet demeanor.

Supporters also reminded her of her impact. “With awards or without, you will always be one of the great hosts,” one fan wrote, citing her viral Good Boy interview as proof. Another added, “I know that you know na you have nothing to prove to anyone.”
In true Anne Curtis fashion, she turned criticism into a moment of clarity—and a reminder that presence isn’t always about physical attendance. Sometimes, it’s about the legacy you leave behind, even when you’re off-screen.
