Joshua Garcia proves that even the most romantic scenes come with their share of behind-the-scenes bloopers — especially when you’re co-starring with someone as iconic as Anne Curtis.

During a recent media conference for their upcoming Kapamilya series ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’, Joshua candidly shared a funny and slightly embarrassing moment that happened while rehearsing an intimate scene with Anne. The series, which premieres on July 17, explores healing and emotional connection — themes that also translated into the comfort and chemistry developed between the stars on set.
“Meron akong nakakahiya na experience,” Joshua admitted with a laugh. “Nasa dagat kami noon, mga fish fish ang kinakain namin. Tapos kinagabihan may intimate scenes kami ni Anne. Napa-dighay ako. Tapos naamoy ni Anne, tanong niya, ‘Dumighay ka ba?’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo.’ [Sagot niya:] ‘Ang baho!’”
Despite the unexpected moment, Joshua took it as a sign that he and Anne had become very comfortable working with each other. “At least di ba, sobrang komportable na namin sa isa’t isa. Nagre-rehearse kami that time pagkatapos ng blocking, tapos napadighay ako. Hindi ko mapigilan eh,” he said, still chuckling.
When asked about how he prepped for his kissing scene with Anne, Joshua simply joked, “Nag-toothbrush,” drawing laughter from the press.
@lionheartv Anne Curtis nabahuan sa dighay ni Joshua Garcia! Joshua Garcia revealed: Meron akong nakakahiyang experience with Anne. Kasi sa dagat yung scene namin so puro mga fish ang kinakain namin doon. Kinagabihan may intimate scene kami. Napa-dighay ako. Tapos naamoy ni Anne. Sabi niya, ‘Ang baho!’ Nakakahiya talaga pero sobrang comfortable na namin sa isa’t isa. I’m sure ikukuwento rin niya yun. #AnneCurtis #JoshuaGarcia #ItsOkayToNotBeOkay #LionhearTV #RAWRNation #entertainmentnews #entertainmentph #ABSCBN
Joshua, who plays the emotionally reserved caregiver Patpat in the series, praised Anne for helping ease his nerves. “Siyempre, Anne Curtis ‘yun, nag-iisang Diyosa. Ako? Isang ‘Jushua’ lang,” he said, playfully mispronouncing his name in jest. “At first siya yung lumalapit sa akin. Ang laking tulong kasi naging comfortable kami agad.”
Director Mae Cruz-Alviar, who helms ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’, was equally proud of her lead actors. “Magaling sila, and the chemistry is there,” she said. “Sanay ako maka-trabaho ng love team na bawal mag-kiss. Ngayon, I’m working with actors na hindi love team, nakakatuwa yung proseso.”
Alviar emphasized that the intimate scenes weren’t added just for romantic flair but were integral to the character arcs and the emotional journey of the series. “It’s acting… skill talaga. Mapapalabas mo yung tingin na may attraction. Because they’re excellent actors,” she said, adding, “Abangan ninyo yung kissing scene. Choreographed siya, blocked, pinag-usapan — pero the eyes are there emotionally.”
Set in a small town, ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ follows the story of Patpat (Garcia), a devoted caregiver to his brother Matmat (Carlo Aquino), who has autism. Their lives are disrupted and eventually transformed when they meet Mia (Curtis), a successful but emotionally guarded children’s book author with anti-social personality traits.
