After ten years, Ice Seguerra is ready to step back into the spotlight—not just as a performer, but as a songwriter fully embracing his truth.
Releasing this August 8, Being Ice marks his first full-length album of all-original songs, under Fire and Ice Music and Star Music. It’s more than a return to music; it’s a deeply personal journey through grief, love, healing, and self-discovery.
“It took me a while. For the longest time, hindi ako naging matapang (I wasn’t brave) because I was afraid to share my thoughts, to share what I was really feeling,” Seguerra admitted. “I was afraid to fail.”
For years, the pressure to succeed—and the fear of risking his family’s livelihood—held him back from writing original material. But after going through deep personal loss, including the deaths of both his parents, Seguerra decided it was time to be fearless.
“During the pandemic, I lost my work and lost my sense of purpose. I started writing on my laptop, and when I showed it to [producer] Jonathan Manalo, I said: ‘You’ll know what to do with this.’ That was the start,” he said.
Now 42, Ice is releasing Being Ice as not just an album but a statement: he’s owning his story, his emotions, and the artist he has become.
The album includes previously released singles “Shelter of the Broken,” “‘Wag Na Lang Pala,” and “Nandiyan Ka”, along with new tracks like “Anino,” “Ikaw Lang,” “Lost in Time,” “Ikaw Pala ‘Yon,” and “Natapos Ang Lahat.”
“My songs are very quiet,” Ice shared. “This time, I just wanted to be honest. I’m proud because I feel I was able to finally let go and be free.”
Producer and wife Liza Diño reflected on how this project captures a side of Ice never seen before.
“We’ve seen him wear many hats through the years. But this is the first time he’s really sharing his vulnerabilities. This is Ice embracing all that he is, and sharing it with the world,” she said. “This is the culmination of 30 years in the industry.”
The journey continues on September 12 and 13 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, coinciding with Ice’s birthday. Titled Being Ice: The Concert Experience, the two-night show will bring the rawness of the album to life.
Night one will feature Gary Valenciano, while night two will offer a more introspective tone with Vic Sotto joining the lineup.
“I admit that I wasn’t as courageous as now… and whatever happens, if this album flies, I’d be very happy. If it doesn’t, I’ll just make a new one,” Seguerra said. “I don’t see it as the end all, be all of life.”
Being Ice is not just a musical release—it’s Ice Seguerra’s statement of reclamation, resilience, and renewal. He has always been a voice for others, but this time, he’s using that voice for himself.
The album drops on August 8 on all streaming platforms. And for those wanting to truly feel the weight and soul behind the music, catch Being Ice: The Concert Experience live this September.
