Veteran director and star maker Johnny Manahan, known in the industry as Mr. M, is making his comeback via TV5’s new all-OPM music countdown program ‘Vibe’.

In a report by News5 on Friday, August 8, Manahan said he was drawn to the project because of the energy of working with young artists.
“I feel younger,” he said, describing how the show’s concept inspired him to return to directing.
This comeback comes four years after the short-lived ‘Sunday Noontime Live’ on the same network. For ‘Vibe’, Mr. M was involved not only in directing but also in putting the show together and guiding its nine hosts—collectively called the Vibe Jocks—who will both present and perform with featured musicians.
The Vibe Jocks are Ana Ramsey, Dylan Menor, Queenay Mercado, Kych Minemoto, Ryle Santiago, Paulo Angeles, Elijah Canlas, Drag Race Philippines winner Maxie Andreison, and Joao Constancia.
The program champions Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and empowers audiences by letting them vote for the songs they want to see and hear each week.

‘Vibe’ officially begins with its primer episode on Saturday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m., while the main countdown airs Sundays at 6:45 p.m. The fun continues on weekdays with ‘Vibe Up’ at 4:45 p.m. and ‘Vibe Nights’ at 11:30 p.m., plus an online pre-show hosted by Gen V artists Carmela Lorzano, Mark Ian, Gab Pascual, Niko Badayos, Selina Griffin, and Adam Buck.
Mr. M signed with GMA Network in 2021 after decades with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, where he became known for developing some of the country’s biggest stars. His last known Kapuso project was ‘Stars on the Floor’, which premiered June 28. Reports say his contract with GMA Network ended in late July, paving the way for his TV5 return.
