‘Darna’ star Angel Locsin has broken her social media silence to call out corruption, linking it to the devastation caused by past typhoons that claimed lives and left families homeless.

Locsin, who has been inactive in both showbiz and online platforms, returned to post on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram over the weekend.
On X, she quoted a line from Morobeats with the hashtag #stopthecorruption: “Ang sa amin, galing sa hirap — ang sa inyo, galing sa mahihirap.”
In her Instagram stories, the actress reflected on the recent congressional hearings on alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
“Watching the hearings, I couldn’t help but remember the messages and news of people begging for help. Families with homes washed away, parents who lost their works, lives lost to floods/typhoons,” she wrote.
“Naiiyak ako sa galit. Kasi pwede pa lang hindi sila naghirap. Pwede pa lang walang nasaktan. Pwede pa lang walang namatay,” Locsin added.
The actress stressed the importance of collective action, saying silence would only worsen the problem.
“Ang bigat. Nakakapanghina ‘yung ganitong kasamaan. Pero mas nakakapanghina kung mananahimik lang tayo. Kaya we keep speaking, we keep fighting. For truth. For justice. For change. No politics. Para sa tao.”
Her posts came as thousands of Filipinos gathered at Luneta and EDSA for the September 21 anti-corruption rallies, protesting alleged misuse of public funds in infrastructure projects.
Celebrities who joined the call included Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Donny Pangilinan, Andrea Brillantes, Angel Aquino, and Maris Racal.
Locsin, known for her humanitarian work, previously stood at the forefront of social causes — from opposing the ABS-CBN shutdown in 2020 to setting up a community pantry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
