Kapamilya host Bianca Gonzalez expressed her dismay over revelations of alleged large-scale corruption in government flood control projects, saying it is disheartening to see taxpayers’ hard-earned money stolen by those in power.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, September 9, Gonzalez wrote: “[N]akakapanlumo ang pangungurakot ng buwis na binabayaran natin. Yung kahit love mo trabaho mo, mapapaisip ka talaga kung worth it ba lahat ng pagod, dahil habang kumakayod ka, may mga nasa posisyon na imbes na pinapagaan ang buhay ng mga mamamayan, ay pinapabigat pa lalo.”
Her remarks came a day after contractors Sarah and Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya revealed before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that several lawmakers and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials allegedly demanded cuts from flood control projects.
On Tuesday, former Bulacan assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez also implicated two senators before the House Infrastructure Committee, presenting photos of bundles of cash that he claimed were delivered as kickbacks.
Gonzalez’s post drew strong reactions from netizens, with some urging her to call out the officials by name, while others echoed her frustration.
This is not the first time Gonzalez has spoken out on the issue. On September 8, she also posted: “If those elected into positions of power to lead are also the ones abusing their power and stealing taxpayers’ money, what options do we citizens have to hold them accountable and make them pay the price?”
She further compared the justice system’s harsh treatment of the poor versus the powerful: “If the one person who steals canned goods amounting to less than P100 for his or her hungry family is caught and imprisoned, what punishment awaits officials who have embezzled billions from the nation’s coffers?”
Both Senators Joel Villanueva and Jinggoy Estrada have since denied Hernandez’s allegations, with Estrada challenging him to a public lie detector test.
Meanwhile, Gonzalez—who recently renewed her contract with ABS-CBN and continues to host ‘Pinoy Big Brother’—has also been candid about her hopes for future editions of the reality show, including a “family edition” and even her “impossible dream” of a “politicians’ edition.”
