Actress Carla Abellana minced no words on Friday after reports surfaced that former president Rodrigo Duterte is allegedly suffering from memory loss.
On the comments section of a Philippine Star Facebook post about Duterte’s medical condition, Abellana bluntly wrote: “Bullsht.”*
The report stemmed from a motion filed before the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Sept. 11 by Duterte’s lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman. In the filing, Kaufman claimed that the former president has shown “cognitive impairment in multiple domains” and is no longer fit to stand trial for alleged crimes against humanity tied to his bloody war on drugs.
According to the filing, Duterte has difficulty recalling events, places, dates, and even some family members, impairing his ability to follow the proceedings or assist in his defense.
The ICC had earlier postponed Duterte’s confirmation of charges hearing, originally scheduled for Sept. 23, 2025, to allow time to assess the new motion.
Abellana, known for her outspoken views on social issues, is one of the first celebrities to publicly react to the news.
