Janella Salvador has spoken up for the first time about speculations linking her to the breakup of Klea Pineda and her ex-girlfriend, Katrice Kierulf.

At the Cinemalaya 21 press conference on Wednesday, September 3, Salvador and Pineda—co-stars in the upcoming queer women-led film ‘Open Endings’—faced questions from the press about the real score between them and the third-party issue.
“Kung ano ‘yung nakikita n’yo, ‘yun na ‘yun. And para lang maging klaro… hindi po ako part ng breakup, hindi po ako third party. I’d like to exclude myself from that,” Salvador stressed.
Pineda backed her up, saying, “Labas si Janella doon.”
The actresses, who star alongside Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Leanne Mamonong in the film, admitted that they became close during the shoot. “Our closeness is unavoidable because we shot the movie for a long time. Even off-cam, we hung out with the production team. Inevitably, we built a friendship,” Pineda said.
When asked if they also spent time together privately, Pineda admitted, “Yes, of course, people can see that online,” while Salvador added, “Kung ano ‘yung nakikita niyo, ‘yun na ‘yun.”
Salvador also revealed that she was present while Pineda was going through her breakup. “Of course, we were together during the filming while that was happening, so we were all there for her,” she said.

Meanwhile, Salvador described her role in ‘Open Endings’: “I’m playing Charlie, a hopeless romantic who falls in love easily. She’s also a little mischievous and loud. Usually, my roles are either villains or very kind characters, so it was fun to explore this side of me.”
Asked about a possible kissing scene between her and Pineda, the two actresses playfully dodged the question. “Secret,” Pineda said, while Salvador teased, “Abangan na lang.”
Pineda rose to fame as the ‘Ultimate Female Survivor’ of ‘StarStruck Season 6’ and has starred in series like ‘Encantadia’ (2016), ‘Ika-5 Utos’ (2018), ‘Magkaagaw’ (2019), and ‘AraBella’ (2023). Salvador has headlined shows including ‘Born for You’ (2016), ‘The Killer Bride’ (2019), and ‘Darna’ (2022).
Salvador has a four-year-old son, Jude, with her former partner, actor Markus Paterson.
