Kapuso heartthrob David Licauco has once again proven he’s not just everyone’s Ginoo, but also a man of ambition — this time revealing that one of his dream roles is to portray Park Seo-joon’s iconic character in the hit K-drama ‘Itaewon Class.’
The actor stirred excitement online after reposting a news article on X (formerly Twitter) confirming that a Filipino adaptation of ‘Itaewon Class’ is officially in the works.
Adding fuel to fan speculations, David quoted the post with a short but telling caption: “The dream.”
The comment immediately caught the attention of fans, many of whom agreed that David would be a perfect fit for the role of Park Sae-royi, originally played by Park Seo-joon — the determined ex-convict who turns his pain into purpose by building a restaurant empire while seeking justice for his father’s death.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time David expressed admiration for the role.
In an online interview back in 2021, during the height of the pandemic, he mentioned that ‘Itaewon Class’ was one of the projects he’d love to do if ever a local version were made. When asked who he’d like to be his leading lady, David mentioned Julie Anne San Jose and Kisses Delavin as his top choices.
Fast forward to 2025, fans are curious — if asked again today, would David still give the same answer, or would his dream pairing change?
This isn’t the first time the actor has drawn inspiration from Park Seo-joon’s work. During the promotions for his film ‘Samahan ng mga Makasalanan’ earlier this year, David admitted that he watched ‘Itaewon Class’ to study Seo-joon’s performance style and subtle charisma.
“’Di ba si Park Seo-joon dun mabait and he’s surrounded by quirky and funny people and still remains entertaining,” David said.
As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding which local network or production company acquired the rights to adapt ‘Itaewon Class’, or who will lead the cast. But with David’s openness about wanting the role — and fans already imagining him as the Filipino Park Sae-royi — it’s safe to say that if he does land it, it’ll be a dream come true not just for him, but for his legion of supporters as well.
