Veteran actor John Estrada has nothing but admiration for Daniel Padilla, even before the Kapamilya star was rumored to be romantically linked to his daughter, Kaila Estrada.
In an interview with Dolly Anne Carvajal on her vlog, John expressed his fondness for Daniel’s personality and upbringing, sharing how impressed he was when they worked together in the 2013 film ‘Must Be… Love’, which also starred Kathryn Bernardo.
“In fairness kay DJ, hindi pa man sila nali-link ng anak kong si Kaila, I’m a fan,” John said. “I’m a fan of Daniel, I’m a fan of Kathryn. Nakasama ko ang dalawa sa pelikula and gusto ko kay DJ, marespeto.”
John also praised Daniel’s humility despite his superstar status.
“Palagi ko ngang sinasabi kay Karla, ang galing ng pagpapalaki mo sa mga anak mo. Kay DJ, sobrang marespeto. Kahit superstar ‘yung tao, mapagkumbaba. Alam niya kung sino ‘yung mga naunang artista sa kaniya. So, yeah, I’m a fan of DJ.”
When asked if he would approve of Daniel should he and Kaila end up together, the actor simply laughed and replied, “Hindi ko po alam. Bahala na sila.”
Rumors about Daniel and Kaila’s relationship began circulating last September after Ogie Diaz claimed on Showbiz Updates that the two were already dating.
In a later interview with MJ Felipe, Daniel neither confirmed nor denied the rumor, saying, “Huwag n’yo na muna kaming kulitin, just let it be. Hayaan na lang nating mangyari ang mga bagay. And again, ayaw ko siyang maging showbiz, e. Well, ‘di pa rin naman maiiwasan ‘di ba pero may choice pa rin naman ako.”
Meanwhile, Kaila has yet to comment on the issue.
