Actress Kim Chiu stepped up in a big way for her kababayans after the powerful magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu on September 30, personally donating and delivering two 10-wheeler trucks of construction materials to affected communities in Bogo City and San Remigio.

On Thursday, October 2, the official social media account of ASAP Natin ‘To shared photos of the Kapamilya star buying supplies herself, noting: “In the midst of her taping in Cebu, Kim Chiu took time to personally buy materials for those affected by the recent earthquake in Bogo City and San Remigio. Queen move, indeed!”
Chiu, a proud Cebuana, is currently in the province filming her upcoming Prime Video series ‘The Alibi’ with Paulo Avelino. Despite her busy schedule, she took the time to visit suppliers and personally oversee the purchase of housing materials to help families rebuild their homes.
According to crew members present during the initiative, the actress filled up two 10-wheeler trucks with the materials she bought out of her own pocket. Fellow cast member Zsa Zsa Padilla also pitched in to provide assistance for quake victims.
The earthquake, which struck late Tuesday night, caused widespread destruction across northern Cebu. As of Thursday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported at least 72 dead, 294 injured, and more than 170,000 people affected. Over 2,000 aftershocks have also been recorded in the region.
Chiu’s swift action earned praise from netizens, with many commending her for helping without the need for fundraising drives. Some even compared her initiative to fellow Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin, long known for her hands-on humanitarian efforts during times of calamity.
