The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 has officially announced the second batch of entries completing this year’s Magic 8, featuring an exciting mix of veteran stars and rising talents across various genres.
The announcement was led by MMFF and MMDA Chair Romando “Don” Artes and Atty. Rochdale Ona during a special event held on October 10 at the University of Makati Performing Arts Theater.

Here are the four new films joining the 51st MMFF lineup:

These four titles were chosen from a pool of finished films submitted to the MMFF Selection Committee. The deadline for submission was originally set for September 15 but was extended to September 30 due to production delays caused by recent typhoons and flooding.
Earlier in July, the festival unveiled the first four entries, selected based on screenplay quality and overall concept:
Call Me Mother — Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, directed by Jun Robles Lana
Rekonek — Gerald Anderson, Carmina Villarroel, Zoren Legaspi, Gloria Diaz, and Alexa Miro, directed by Jade Castro
Manila’s Finest — Piolo Pascual, directed by Rae Red
Shake, Rattle & Roll XVII: Evil Origins — an all-star horror anthology featuring Ivana Alawi, Carla Abellana, Francine Diaz, Fyang Smith, Richard Gutierrez, and Seth Fedelin
With the Magic 8 now complete, anticipation is building for the Parade of Stars on December 19, which will take place along the main roads of Makati City, this year’s official MMFF host city.
The Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) is set for December 27, also in Makati, as part of the annual Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino celebration.
