After a hiatus, Filipino idol group MNL48 is officially back—stronger and brighter—with the introduction of its highly anticipated 5th Generation members.

Known as the Philippine sister group of Japan’s iconic AKB48, MNL48 opened auditions earlier this year to complete its 20-member lineup. The new members—selected after a months-long audition process that began in May—were formally introduced during the group’s ‘Dream Beyond’ concert on October 11, 2025, held at Teatrino Promenade in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Fans, known as MNLoves, packed the venue, waving blue light sticks as the group performed a total of 14 songs (plus two encore numbers) spanning their seven-year career—from early hits like ‘Aitakatta – Gustong Makita’ to their rendition of AKB48’s ‘Oh My Pumpkin’.
The highlight of the evening was the reveal of the 12 new 5th Generation members, composed of: Riri, Sarina, Angel, Wida, Miyaka (former 3rd gen), Jade, Maj, Max, Renee, Elyse, Sakura, and Mirai.
Among them are two Japanese members, Shion Sakura and Wanaka Mirai, along with returning member Miyaka Montoro, a former 3rd Gen kenkyuusei (trainee).
The new generation officially debuted with energetic performances of ‘Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie’ and ‘High Tension’, earning loud cheers from the crowd.
Another highlight was the announcement of Dana Brual as Co-Captain of MNL48, alongside current Captain Jamie Alberto—a move that symbolizes teamwork, leadership, and unity as the group enters a new era.
Before the concert, MNL48 held a cheki (photo) and handshake event, allowing fans to interact with their idols—a signature element of the AKB48 system that MNL48 continues to uphold.
General Manager Abby Trinidad closed the night by thanking the fans and reminding them to “pray for the best” for MNL48’s future.

“Together, let’s continue to grow, reach higher, and #DreamBeyond,” MNL48 said in a statement following the concert.
The ‘Dream Beyond’ concert marks the group’s second major event since its 2025 comeback, following Reboot and Rise held in April. (with reports from Loyd Pino)
