The Philippine motorcycle industry maintained its strong momentum with a total of 171,155 units sold across the country in September 2025, marking a significant 21.2 percent increase compared to the 141,202 units sold in the same month last year, according to data from the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA).
Additionally, from January to September 2025, total motorcycle sales have reached 1,398,315 units, up 12.8 percent from the 1,239,258 units sold during the same period in 2024. The steady growth highlights how motorcycles remain a practical choice for many Filipino commuters navigating high fuel and transport costs and urban congestion.
“Motorcycles remain a popular choice among Filipinos due to several key factors. They offer an affordable means of personal mobility, especially at a time when economic uncertainties have placed pressure on household budgets. Their fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs also make them ideal for daily use. Riders can also cut through traffic much easier, allowing for quicker and more convenient travel,” said Toni Boi Acuesta, MDPPA’s Marketing Committee Chairperson.
In terms of regional distribution, Luzon continues to account for more than half of the overall sales, contributing 56 percent of September’s total with 95,712 units sold. Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao regions each contributed 22 percent of total sales, with 37,675 and 37,768 units sold respectively, showing that demand remains strong not just in urban centers, but across all major regions.
The MDPPA remains optimistic about the industry’s performance for the remainder of the year. With only three months left in 2025, the association sees the positive trend continuing.
“These figures have consistently shown that motorcycles remain a top choice for Filipinos. Their affordability, ease of use, and ability to navigate traffic make them the most practical option for everyday mobility. We believe these reasons will continue to fuel steady growth until year-end,” said Engr. Alexander A. Cumpas, MDPPA President. “As 2025 enters its final quarter, all signs point to a strong finish for the motorcycle industry, reaffirming its role as a vital part of the country’s transportation landscape.”
