The mini-series is the second offering under Precious Hearts Romances which got adapted to television with popular titles from the beloved pocketbook romance series.

Precious Hearts Romances was one of ABS-CBN’s longest-running and most successful drama series-anthology, that ran from 2009 to 2019. The show adapted nearly two dozen titles from the popular Precious Hearts Romance Tagalog pocketbooks. The first offering, Bud Brothers, aired from May to August 2009. Its last offering was the 2019 top-rated series, Los Bastardos.
The second offering of the anthology series, Ang Lalaking Nagmahal Sa Akin, meanwhile aired from August 31 to October 16, 2009. It starred Toni Gonzaga and Derek Ramsay in the lead roles. The late box-office director Wenn V. Deramas directed it and Gonzaga narrated the story.
Ang Lalaking Nagmahal Sa Akin followed the story of Flor (Gonzaga), a barrio girl who braved her way the city life to find a job that could feed her family. She has a mother and two brothers to support. She signed up as a chambermaid (for her to earn more) in a high-end hotel owned by the handsome womanizing Zephy McNally (Ramsay), who inevitably fell in love with her.
Zephy was willing to turn his back on his family and inheritance. Flor, however, was offered two difficult choices: to accept Zephy’s love or fulfill the better life she aspires for her family.

One of the highlights in the series was when Flor and Zephy’s wedding finally pushed through (see the full gallery below).
Part of the cast are Carla Humphries, Janus del Prado, Sharmaine Buencamino, Franzen Fajadro, ketchup Eusebio, DJ Durano, Beatriz Saw, Dionne Monsanto, Tess Antonio, Crispin Pineda, Frances Ignacio, and Carla Martinez. Angel Sy, Nikki Valdez, Dianne Medina, and Erwin Aurella, also played guest roles on the series.
