“Can a chance at another beginning come after saying goodbye?” This is the question at the heart of Unmarry, a highly anticipated entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 from Quantum Films and CINEKO Productions.
A moving family drama, the film explores the courage it takes to face endings, the pain of lost love, and the hope of starting over.
Topbilled by Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo, Unmarry marks a subtle but highly anticipated return for both actors—not only to major cinematic roles and the MMFF after their acclaimed performances in One More Try, but also as a reunion with director Jeffrey Jeturian following their collaboration on the hit Playhouse series on ABS-CBN. They bring depth, versatility, and authenticity to their portrayals of Celine and Ivan, capturing the emotional complexity of love, loss, and second chances.
Unmarry follows Celine (Angelica) and Ivan (Zanjoe) as they navigate the end of their marriages and the complexities of raising children while confronting their own emotional challenges. Their paths unexpectedly cross at the law office of Atty. Jackie, a lawyer and YouTube personality, and through a series of misadventures in court scheduling, a deep friendship—and perhaps something more—begins to blossom.
Angelica Panganiban shares what draws her to the project: “Siguro unang una yung tiwala sa mga makers nung film… nung narinig ko na yung kuwento, yung simplicity nung story niya but at the same time very complex.”
“Ang ganda ganda nung atake, nung storytelling, na hindi siya nanghihingi ng kahit anong bigness… Ang tahimik ng atake ng storytelling niya,” she says.
Rounding out the cast are Tom Rodriguez, Solenn Heussaff, and award-winning actress Eugene Domingo each bringing their own depth and nuance to the story.
Directed by Jeturian and penned by renowned writers Therese Anne Cayaba and Chris Martinez, Unmarry presents a high-quality, heart-stirring drama that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Unmarry opens December 25 in cinemas.
