Gerald Anderson stepped into December’s Spotlight, sharing stories from his many creative ventures—as actor, director, entrepreneur, producer—and reflecting on the ever-relevant theme of reconnection.
Fresh from the successful run of Sins of the Father, where he not only starred but also took the director’s chair, Gerald is now set to appear on the big screen once again in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Rekonek.
But aside from acting, he will once again slip into another role for the film—this time behind the camera as a producer.
Asked about what’s keeping him busy these days, Gerald shared, “Siyempre promoting Rekonek. Rekonek is a first producing venture ko rin with The Th3rd Floor Studios.”
“Rekonek is a Christmas movie. Na-miss ko rin yung mga Christmas-themed movies eh, mga pelikulang tungkol sa Pasko… That’s something I want to give sa audience natin. Ang premise ng kwento ay paano tayong mga Filipino kapag nawalan tayo ng wifi, 10 days before Christmas,” Gerald shared, giving a hint of a compelling watch this holiday season that will offer many touching perspectives on life.
Gerald shared about his role in the film’s romantic thread, saying that he and Charlie Dizon bring to life its love story, “Kami ni Charlie Dizon yung gaganap sa love story aspect ng movie. It’s how the internet and social media can affect a modern day relationship.”
The spark for his producing venture came in the most modern-day fashion: stranded without Wi-Fi on a shoot for the Netflix series BuyBust. “Nabuo yung konsepto nito nung nagsho-shooting kami ng Netflix series BuyBust… Walang signal at yung araw na ‘yun namatay o nasira yung Starlink (their only source of Wi-FI). Sabi ko, that’s a good concept. Nabuo na yung storya, yung pelikula…” From that offline epiphany, the idea of producing the film fell into his lap—and he didn’t hesitate to say yes.
At the recent Star Magic Christmas 2025, Gerald was honored as one of the loyalty awardees, marking two decades with the ABS-CBN’s talent management.
“Very thankful for the 20 years, of course, sa loyalty award na binigay sa akin. It was a great night. A night of celebration, humility, and gratitude. Ang ganda po ng batch, mga kaibigan ko rin yung mga kasama kong mga ibang awardees,” he shared, reflecting on a night that was equal parts heartfelt and festive.
“We’re very privileged, hanggang ngayon—for 20 years, we’re still here, nandito pa rin kami para magbigay entertainment at makapag-provide pa rin sa pamilya namin. Who would’ve thought that after 20 years, we’re still on top of our game?” Gerald reflected, a mix of pride and disbelief in his voice.
Two decades in, and Gerald Anderson is still proving that hardwork, talent, and that unmistakable Tatak Star Magic spirit are the perfect ingredients for lasting success in the industry. For updates, follow @starmagicphils on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Tiktok.
