TV and concert director Paolo Valenciano broke his silence after the major delay that disrupted the JBL Sound Fest held on Saturday, December 6, at the Parklinks Open Grounds in Pasig City.

In a candid Facebook post early Sunday morning, December 7, Paolo admitted that the overwhelming traffic situation and logistical complications caused him to lose control of the event’s flow.
“Tonight, I lost complete control of our event, which caused a major delay and added two extra hours of work to an already exhausted team,” he wrote.
Paolo issued a heartfelt apology to JBL, the event’s client, and to OPM band Cup of Joe, who reportedly had to ride motorcycles through heavy traffic just to make it to their revised call time.
“I sincerely apologize to our client JBL and to my brothers from Cup of Joe (who had to be picked up by motorcycles in traffic jams just to make their new call time). This was my first year with JBL Sound Fest, so I found this incredibly frustrating.”
He also clarified on his Instagram Stories: “Hindi late ‘yung Cup of Joe.”
Paolo reflected on the experience, saying it was a learning moment for him and his team.
“We learn new things every day and I know I still have a lot to improve!! To everyone who was there, super sorry.”
The director ended his post with a striking message addressed to singer-songwriter Rico Blanco, who also performed at the event.
“And to Rico, my hero, while I sincerely wish you the best, I’ve learned that we’re simply not meant to work together again.”
As of this writing, Rico Blanco has not released any statement regarding Paolo’s remarks. LionhearTV remains open to publishing updates should either party issue further clarification.

Among those who reacted to Paolo’s post was veteran singer Martin Nievera, who offered reassurance and encouragement: “There are some things we can not control and we do our best with what we have when we have it. Don’t carry all the load. That’s why you have a team. I know you are J ust B eing L eader, but let your heart, J ust B e L ight. Tomorrow is another day.”
The JBL Sound Fest delay drew discussions online, but many also commended Paolo for taking responsibility and acknowledging the challenges faced by his team.
