Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis Chavit Singson held an emergency press conference on Monday, January 5, where he released what he described as never-before-seen evidence and personal testimonies involving the legacy of the late former president Ferdinand Marcos and the current administration of Ferdinand Marcos Jr..

During the briefing, Singson drew symbolic parallels between past and present events, citing what he called “Divine Providence” and the significance of the number 40 in the Bible, which he said represents completion and the beginning of a new chapter.
Singson pointed out that in 1986, then 68-year-old President Marcos Sr. was ousted from power through the EDSA People Power Revolution. He noted that in 2026, President Marcos Jr. is also 68 years old—exactly 40 years after his father’s downfall.
According to Singson, the coincidence is not merely symbolic but indicative of a broader historical pattern.
“40 years apart. A tale of two Marcoses. From father to son, a legacy of corruption. This is truly the biggest corruption scandal in Philippine history,” Singson said.
He further emphasized what he described as recurring political alliances tied to alleged corruption.
“Marcos at Romualdez noon, Marcos at Romualdez naman ngayon. 40 years apart. Tama na, sobra na!” he added.
Singson did not immediately disclose full details of the evidence he referenced but said the materials were meant to expose what he claimed were long-standing patterns of corruption linked to both past and present political leadership.
