Actor Janus del Prado sparked online chatter after poking fun at the wedding cake of newlyweds Carla Abellana and Dr. Reginald Santos, who tied the knot on December 27.

Janus shared a photo of the couple’s minimalist white wedding cake on social media and jokingly compared its long, rectangular design to something seen at a wake. In one post, he wrote, “Cake! Why did you leave us? Huhu!” and added the remark, “Sisiw na lang kulang,” implying that the cake resembled a coffin display.
He followed this up with another post that read, “You ordered a CAKE, but they delivered a WAKE,” further fueling reactions from netizens. Some users agreed with the joke, pointing out the cake’s shape and floral arrangement, while others felt the comment was unnecessary and disrespectful, especially given the occasion.
The issue eventually reached Carla, who addressed the joke directly but calmly in the comments section of Janus’ post.
“Masarap naman at fully edible. Pati guests nag-enjoy. Para sa amin maganda siya at yun ang importante,” she replied, making it clear that she was unfazed by the criticism.
Her response was met with mixed reactions online. While some praised her maturity and composure, others questioned why Janus felt the need to comment publicly on a couple’s wedding detail.
Despite the noise, Carla appeared unaffected by the controversy. On her own social media accounts, she continued to share heartfelt moments from her wedding and expressed her happiness in marrying Dr. Reginald, whom she described as her “first and last love.”
“My first and last. A love story over 20 years in the making. Two lives coming full circle. This is our story,” Carla wrote in one post.
